ISPA tries to plug holes in ICASA ADSL Regulations

eta on revision? and then revision after that heh. seriously doubt Telkom is worried, heck bafana bafana have a better chance at the world cup then pricing and regulations being fixed properly.
 
Glad to see there some sort of follow up being done here. Pity it's a little late. These holes should have been plugged before the water even ran.
 
Pity ICASA will most likely choose to ignore whatever was in the letter but it would still be nice to read it - anyone know where a copy can be obtained?

Why do I get the idea that telcum will just get MORE loopholes to work with?

And even when ICASA puts down a 100% understood rule (eg. 30 day installs) telscum ignores them.

Even if ICASA writes the perfect set of regulations telscum will wipe their bottoms with it...
 
perfect regulations have perfect penalties for non-compliance. Hence ICASA must address the penalties that will be instituted against Telkom and any other operator should the regulations not be complied with in a specified amount of time.
 
It is time for ICASA to grow some balls and do the hard yards. Start going after the big boys with fines, instead of the back yard pirates who have no economic impact.

right, smart move... roll over and do nothing, then you'll deserve what you get. Why not start trying to do something constructive?

Why will this hopefully address the issue - isn't it ICASA's job to SEE that the shortcomings of this document ARE addressed? Tomorrow I'll go to work and "hopefully" my work will get done.....

Would think in response to the TAG ad, and the subsequent Interface/rpm appearence on tv.

Clueless organisation. Initial/final! 4 page document shows it, this is the cherry.

(and all the time we just keep paying out, for an extremely limited service, no problem!!) :mad:

Do you think that anyone at Icasa can actually read the letter ?
They do after all only hire incompetents, and people who sleep at work / steal at work / don't pitch up for work............................

SA already lost the 2010, due to crime and lack of telecommunications. o and never mind that you cannot build a stadium in less than 2years and 10 months.

Telkom has never given a damn about anyone much like some leaders in this country

It was on national TV, during the SABC3 Interface program, that the incompetent narcoleptic, Paris Mashile stated that ICASA is re-visiting the ADSL regs, and of course no timeframes from ICASA nor the DoC...:rolleyes:

I get the impression that a significant number of ADSL ISPs [resellers etc] had their hopes pinned on NeOTel to provide a significant degree of ADSL competition to Telkodemonopolies, and thereby drive wholesale ADSL prices down, and of course the penny has now dropped for both consumers and ADSL ISPs after NeOTel's latest revelations that it will concentrate on a wireless local loop [obviously NeOTel not wanting to wait indefinitely for the Grim Poisonous Ivyness Creeper's promise of [wired] Local Loop Unbundling, and perhaps wanting to avoid being regulated by avoiding providing an ADSL service to consumers altogether].

Which obviously means that the ADSL regs are now all the more important since there isn't going to be any significant ADSL competition from NeOTel, ultimately the only way to reign Telkodemonopolies in is to regulate its ass into bringing its exorbitant pricing down, but then we actually need a regulator with a vastly improved attitude & ethos which ICASA simply does not have. ICASA may as well be renamed to reflect that it is a 'postal' regulator - in the gone totally [postal] insane sense.
