I see the one (core model) at Incredible Co(rrup)(nec)tion will work out R2700 + R300 for second wired controller.

Anyplace else carry them and what price?

BT games have them.
Game should have them
CNA MAY have them...
not sure on the prices.. but check www.btgames.co.za...

Rather get the premium bundle from BT games for R3549 - effectively R549 more than you're willing to pay but comes with wireless controllers and 20GB HD.

Harddrive does what?

Edit: And I see that only comes with one wireless controller, so add R400 for another one..

Also - someone with a Core might know - If you're getting a second controller can it be wireless? They're not that much more expensive and make a world of difference.

Same thing that any HD would do. Plus you could save games (memory cards would work out more expensive), download and run demos from XBox Live and you need a HD if you want it to be backwards compatible with old XBox games.

Trust me wireless controllers make a huge difference to the experience, it's worth the extra dough.

I agree with H_GP... the Premium is worth the extra money, and the wireless controllers make ALLLL the differenence in the world... They're only about R100 more than the wired i THINK and its worth it.

There is also talk of IPTV coming to the 360 via telkom, which would invariably require the HDD for buffering... so yeah...

From all reports I have read, it really is worth spending extra to upgrade to the Premium.

Only reason I'm not getting one yet is because MS is full of k@k by not supporting 16:10 resolutions yet. People are pretty much begging for 1440x900 and 1680x1050 and niks is happening.

People are pretty much begging for 1440x900 and 1680x1050 and niks is happening.Ya 5 highest resolutions with the HD VGA cable are ...

1280 x 720
1280 x 768
1280 x 1024
1360 x 768
1920 x 1080

Thats why I still use a CRT monitor instead of LCD, as they can sync to any of these resolutions without any of the bluring experienced on a LCD not running native res. The only common LCD res matched is 1280 x 1024 (most 17' & 19').

I'd definitely say get the pro at the moment, the additional value is huge. Especially if you find a deal like the BT one. Another reasonable option is Musica has the pro + extra wireless controller, + WWE smackdown vs Raw for R4000.

The core device and pro device are identical bar the HD and the Pro has a chrome drive tray.

The core will make more sense once home server comes out, but not at the moment.

Get the premium.

You need the HDD if you connect to Live! since they patch games and give you down loadable content for free all the time.

My only complaint with the 360 is that they released a model without a HDD. Stupid thing to do IMHO

Wireless all the way as well. I got myself a wired controller just in case the wireless had issues and I never ever used the thing. The wireless controllers are fantastic.

ssb : nope, you can't unfortunately...

as for the HiDef part, both core and premium are HD-Capable.... but I'd definately suggest going with teh Premium, cos of the wireless controller, and the HDD.

Hang ten and keep your eyes peeled, there should be a few deals coming out as we approach the PS3 launch. Australia just got a Gears of War bundle ;)

I'm not exactly sure what kind of super deal you're holding your breath for. There might be some arb website where u save R200 but when u wake up on that one saturday morning with the burning urge to blow some cash u just gonna walk to the nearest store that has them and buy it.

If u really wanna save then have u thought about a second hand 1? I mean how old could they be, they half the price and definitely the way i'd go (as a poor student that is)

well, as doobiwan mentioned elsewhere, the best deal so far is the musica special, which includes the premium, extra wireless controller and one game (some wrestling thing i think)

that is quite and impressive deal, apart from the choice of game :D i want GOW!!!

I am hoping for a bunch of deals starting next week to counter the PS3 launch but so far nothing has been released.....

Possible huge savings coming up though
