I must say, I'm enjoying this little XBLA (XBox Live Arcade) title a lot! I finished Episode 3 last night (on Hurt Me Plenty) and only have Episode 4 (Thy Flesh Consumed) left to do !

For anybody who never owned / paid for the original / finished the original DOOM, I highly recommend this little XBLA title - well worth the cash. It's also quite long, challenging and comes with Co-op/Live support. The game has 32 stages (8 stages x 4 episodes). If you are worried about graphics, don't be - you forget all about them when you play.

The more I play it, the more I realize; it's actually quite a creepy/violent game. Waaaay more than I remember it. It was ahead of it's time.

I now await: DOOM II, Heretic, Quake I, Quake II, Duke Nukem 3D - come on Microsoft !!!!

You forgot to mention that the game now has 5.1 channel sound !

I cant wait for duke3d ..ALL TIME FAVOURITE CLASSIC SHOOTER . And the multiplayer was out of this world. Such good levels/guns.

Like old tv series, I would prefer to be left with the fond memories of what they used to be like rather than the reality of how ancient it looks by today's standards.

Seriously, you spend more than R3k on a console to spend hours playing games that would run a a cell-phone?

Which bring me back to the argument that great graphics don't make a great game. DOOM is a blast ! And when you are so into it, I don't notice that I'm playing an almost 20 year old game :) It doesn't look ancient at all, unless you are fussy.

PS: This version DOOM doesn't run on a cellphone. The cellphone version RPG like and has REALLY simplified graphics.

As long as it uses that false-3D perspective trick its going to look very aged. Can you play it multiplayer? Apparently Worms is coming to the Arcade, now THAT is a game.
