The 2 work independtly of each other so why forces telkom us a phoneline through the throat (My phone line is down again, but my adsl works fine) so obviously they are not needed to be linked

To me it would seem all of telkoms activities are anti-competitive being that they are the only one offering adsl lines.Anti competitive marketing by Telkom to make more money by forcing you to purchase a land line..... they do this mostly for greed, and partly to try reach installation deadlines ICASA has stipulated.
I thought you paid your +/- R90 to 'rent' the cable running from the pole to your house. Do you have to pay another line rental fee ontop of that for ADSL?!?!?!
That is pretty close to justifying the charge. After all, considering the enormous amount we already pay for adsl connectivity and the billions in profit they record annually it's fair to say they dont really need the r90 do they?So would you sleep better if they charged you no 'line rental' but charged you an extra R90 on the DSL rental? I don't see the problem here.
