Hey guys the quest that is getting a South African gaming podcast off the ground has taken shape! It is something which I have really been wanting to get into as I feel our gaming community, however small, are broken up into different factions residing on different forums etc. This is a way for us to share a common point of interest once or twice a week.
After what seemed like a futile attempt of trying to launch my own podcast, I was browsing around the local South African web (like most horrible bored people do) and stumbled upon a new start up venture, an online Radio Station with the name gt-radio (gaming talk radio)
I quickly saw that they were brand new and had but done one launch show thus far. The launch show was a crazy affair where Telkom made it their priority to make life as hard as it could be for the radio hosts but hey this is South Africa, what you going to do.
I then approached the creator of the concept and asked if I could do a spot on the show covering hand-held and console gaming, the other show in the week covers more PC related gaming. I recorded a 20min taste of what I could offer and nervously uploaded it to his FTP server. He listened to it and liked it and gave me a job
So now I have my first two hour spot on Friday from 8 – 10pm, I am going to be covering a lot of Nintendo DS stuff, PSP, Demos, The retro gaming scene, Homebrew, Soon to cover Xbox 360 (waiting for those quite drives!) And I would really love your support on this, I can guarantee you it’s something you are all going to like, console heads (is that even a term?!) you’re in for a treat.
We have forums where we can discuss the shows, I have gaming homework for you guys, so what I am asking is that you guys come support the show. Eventually we hope to grow to a point where we can bring you interviews, cover launches (I will be doing the PS3 launch) but mostly get gamers together, hardcore gamers who love games and love nothing more than to talk about them.
