Anybody used Xbox with Windows Media Centre in Vista?

Will be doing this asap.

I played around with it but found using WMP11 the easiest way to go. Works fine in XP and in Vista. ;)

Yep, played around with it on Vista Ultimate. Lack Divx/Xvid decoding on Xbox makes it pretty useless for me.

Yes i use it.

Do you need to know anything Antowan?

:) Not yet. Maybe this evening if I cannot slam it together for some reason.

Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Wait, does it play DivX if you play via MP11 or is it all Microsoft native codecs only?

Hey Guys

Ive used both, WMP 11 under XP, and Media center with Vista 64 bit. Works like a charm.

Though in both cases divx not natively supported, but possible with some add-ons.

For winXP I would recommend Tversity. But PC needs to be quite strong to handle the on-the fly transcoding.

On Vista/Media Center i Use transcode 360. Most users report no hassles, though I've been having some problems. Works fine, but after about 20 minutes video stops on xbox and says connection to media center lost. Grrr.

On a side note - I love the way Media center handles my Music library - album art and all.

I couldn't get Transcode360 to run properly. Is there a newer version out in the last 2 weeks?

So, hooked it up and went through the motions of getting it working. Must say I am very impressed.

The Xbox 360 view looks exactly like MC in Windows Vista. It complains about codec issues when trying to play DivX, which was expected. MC in Windows doesn't play DivX either even though Media Player 11 does.

Picture browsing, music and videos work nicely. Impressive interface.

Will have to get the wifi adapted for Xbox. :)

I didnt get mine working nicely either. It only worked for the first few minutes. As to new version, I'm not sure, only downloaded what was available on saturday.

Just remember, when you want to play the divx movie using transcode, go to the 'more' option on the video (press blue x on xbox controller) and select transcode there. Took me a while to figure out :)

then you didnt install codecs (or didnt do it properly or whatever)
natively it doesnt, but installing ffdshow fixes this up.
