Depending on which journal or magazine one reads I can never find a definitive answer on the current number of active ADSL users (i.e. use ADSL at least once a month). There are many service providers one can use to become an ADSL user, but at the end of the day transmission flows through Telkom. Does any one know what these figures are? More importantly what are these figures broken up between business users and individual/non-business users?

uhm well for a true number or ADSL endpoints you'd have to ask Telkom but i recall them stating that they will not bew releasing these anymore.[for competition but me thinks more so we can't complain of economies of scale or demand price drops as demand continues to grow] Also remember each ADSL line can have multiple ISP accounts.

I saw in a Telkom ad over the weekend they are claiming there is 200 000 adsl lines at the moment in South Africa.

Thanks guys

I spoke to a chap at Telkom as well as some of the tech houses, BMI-T and WWW. The figure seems to be 220k active users in SA. But no one can give me the breakdown between business and non-business users?
