Telkom - slow speeds and time-outs...end of the month blues?

Anyone in Cape Town been experiencing slow site speeds and constant time-outs in the Cape Town (CBD) area?

I am told by my ISP that this is end of the month blues, everyone going crazy realising that their cap has not been reached and queueing up piles of downloads.

And as our friends Telkom cannot handle this, everyone else's service is affected...

...any ideas?:eek:

Not in the CBD but I am in Cape Town and experiencing the same problem.

Whenever this happens I set my proxy to cache.saix.net:3128 and the problem is resolved.
 
:( been like this the whole week ... timeout after timeout after timeout. even google timing out. this is just so pathetic :mad:

I am having the same problem. How do I set the proxy to cache. Haven't a clue what it means?
 
The proxy aCe gave doesn't work well for me.

Masu, if you are using Internet Explorer, click tools>internet options>click connections at the top>click on lan settings>click the checkmark at "use a proxy server">paste this in the address area: dsl-cache.saix.net >and at the port, type in 8080> click ok>ok

It should work now ;)
 
Pinelands, same problem. Hellkom strikes again or let me guess, the cyclone in Moz caused a prehistoric fish from the depths to eat the cable

The proxy was working fine up till a couple of hours ago. It's now gone to poo.

Luckily I have a 1.5mb leased line just a VPN connection away for me to surf with :)
 
cant authenticate on both my telkom accounts, line is syncing
 
mmm.... well... i'm on IS and having terrible lag! web pages are taking forever to load, even Myadsl!. feels like a 9600baud modem!
