I used to be with iBurst and I ran the XBOX through a D-Link router.

After setting the router to the right size MTU and entering the DNS settings into the XBOX it worked like a charm.

I just got ADSL and while the XBOX does connect it is very, very slow.It took 1min to download a 108kB file.I ran the test function on the XBOX and everything checked out fine.

This sounds really noobish but I have no idea what my router's IP is so I cant check to see if the MTU is right. How do I find out what the Telkom ADSL router's IP is? The Mac is printed on the back of the router but I don't know how to connect using that.

Any advice will be appreciated.

I have an Xbox 360 Elite and have connected it up to my ADSL router/modem on E2 (Ethernet port 2). My computer's connected to the Internet on E1. The Xbox seems to pick up the Internet settings, but when I test the connection, the Xbox tells me that it can't connect. Does anyone know how I can connect the Xbox to the Internet? I phoned the Do Broadband guys and they can't help me because they are not trained for Xbox or Playstation.

Is your router set up as a DHCP server?

Does the Xbox get an IP address from the router correctly?

i.e. something like 10.0.0.3 or similar?

Hehehe! What he said! Check to see that the ADSL router is assigning it an ip address. I would suggest starting the Xbox up last. Sometimes it doesn't pick up first time round. I use my Vodacom E220 though my Ubuntu Notebook. Works effortlessly. I don't do online gaming yet, but checking out movies and stuff it's fast. I do my updates through my 3G too. Next year I want to buy me a 3G/ADSL router from Scoop. It's about R850, but worth it.

One more thing, check your ADSL settings to be sure that it IS assigning DHCP and not manual.

Good luck!
