hopefully heaven but probably hell
can someone at iburst actually start doing their job because it appears as another forumite said: a sticky tape job.

why is it every month their is always some degradation issue that always takes more then several days to fix?

please can the people at iburst start realizing that giving us additional bandwidth and roll over bandwidth is no use if these constant problems plague the network monthly in what appears to be random faults.

i will admit after this weeks appalling network conditions i will be inquiring with telkom for a fixed line solution because some of us require a stable broadband solution.

Wireless is problematic most of the time. Due to poor signal strength or signal quality. Also Tower problems can be a major issue, and also the fact that most ISP's like Iburst and Sentech, and Other Wireless Company's are reliant on Telkom or Internet Solutions for Bandwidth.. So if Telkom or IS has issues the rest of the Wireless people have issues aswell.

One rarely gets a "stable" connection with Iburst , Sentech or other wireless ppl. If u run Netlimiter (to check your download / upload speed in graph form) u can see how your download spikes and how it drops, and stalls, and if its running smoothly. U can even monitor howmuch kb/s each application is using and monitor usages for the month.

Wireless connections tend to Spike, and Flatline sometimes.. and do the "Drop like a Anvil" move :>

I've decided I am crossing to Telkom. So long iBurst, I have enjoyed the good times.

I don't put these regular problems down to a telscum or IS problem even though at times they do play a part in it.

These problems we have had this past week and on a regular basis is an iBurst incompetence problem, they need to get their heads out of their butts and start fixing things as they are losing customers at an ever increasing rate.

I also notice that since Ed is leaving his replacement (whoever that is) has decided to hide under a rock and not even tried to communicate with us here on this forum, even SG has decided to stay away which is also disappointment since many of us looked to him for keeping us in the loop as to the problems and what was been done to sort them out.

The "darkside" is sure looking a lot "brighter" by the day.

Jongi, you're moving to the Dark Side?!

It saddens me to do it but when circumstances are as they I have decided to show my displeasure with what talks the loudest. My wallet.

Just spent 20 min on the line to I"bust" to try and confirm my termination of m2m. I sent my request / demand for termination on the 2nd of March in response to the insulting offer to contract customers only. M2M not a contract customer was the I'Bust" thinking. Now M2M is a contract as I need to give a full calendar month notice it is a contract. Best part is - the amount has been coming off my account every month, but now that I want to cancel, there is an amount outstanding. Great work I"bust" I have moved my business to MTN.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply and I understand the cons of a wireless connection, however there must be a way for them to increase reliability to a higher level as it is really to their benefit.

I just feel for the money i am paying (which aint cheap) iburst should endevour to keep me and other users happy. And i am more then understanding that problems occur, but it just seems iburst tend to have a week of problems EVERY month and most of the time it doesn't reflect on their incident report.

Since Ed has left i get the perception that they are playing hide and seek and the only reason why i mention all this is because it would be ashame if iburst had to land up like another sentech.

I have been using iburst since beta stages and i must admit lately it just hasnt been available when i needed it the most. Last night was trully pathetic and thankfully at work i have ADSL.

I've been thinking about what you said about wireless been "problematic", sure it won't be as stable as copper but from my experience with iBurst I don't buy what you are saying.
I still feel the problems are with the iBurst team and lack of qualified staff to maintain the system (which is a good system and works fine in Australia).

If what you said was true then been an inferior internet system it should be supplied at a much lower cost than ADSL and not the price it costs the users right now.

Then there is also the NO contact or answers since Ed decided to jump ship, he at least gave us some hope even though not much he said came to light. (I doubt that it was his fault though)

Storm in a teacup

Is it not amazing, m2m subscribers annoyed about the iBurst's additional bandwidth discrimination against them.

Much beating of breasts and rending of garments. Great histrionics!!!

Who has actually put their money where their mouth is and has cancelled their account?

You.

and a few others, I am honestly thinking about, in fact I really should. But the whole self install and upgrading Closer 3 to 4 is a las. I'll get around to it, its worth it.

I would love to get a closer 5 plan except for the fact that the iburst belongs to my parents :( & they dont care much about an extra 500mb since they use it for email....

i cancelled iburst about a week ago, and ordered closer 4 - self install, it's up and running already. telkom also include a wireless modem & dect phone for free!! as much as i hate Telkom, i am pretty chuffed with their offer as it does not bind me into any contract. so if iburst, gts or neotel can do better i'll just move!

but i will absolutely not sign a contract with any of them.

Tonight my browsing speeds are pathetic and my downloads (rapidshare) are taking ages to start but reach good speed after about a min or so, could be a dud bunch of IPs' I'm getting unless others are having a similar problem.
