The Inquirer reports that PAL PS3 are finally in the hands of tester and a German site has put the Software emulation Backwards compatibility to the test with firmware 1.5.

http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=38191

Of 12 titles tested, 1 (as in ONE) title is currently BC.

The games tested were:

# God of War
# MGS 2: Sons of Liberty
# MGS 3: Snake Eater
# Shadow of the Colossus
# Guitar Hero 2
# Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones
# Okami
# GTA: Liberty City Stories
# Eragon
# Final Fantasy X-2
# Ratchet & Clank 3
# Lumines Plus

And the one that ran? Eragon.

While it's still early days, and Sony will most likely update the firmware in the near future, this does not bode well at all considering Software emulation was the planned route since the inception of the PS3, and launch is only 9 days away.

Well according to IGN, Phil Harrison has said PAL PS3s will come preloaded with firmware 1.5 and on launch day version 1.6 will be released and 1200 titles will be playable only if 1.6 is downloaded. So there is hope lol

Or a lot of patience :p

I imagine you'll be able to burn the firmware to disk and flash the PS3 that way - The Sony Blu-Ray players let you do that.

Yeah im sure i saw the US site has the firmware for download to your pc or i guess people can just wait for the games that come with the firmware like PSP. I dont have ADSL availability in my area but Vodacom is looking really attractive right now with their reduced rates. I know i wont be able to game with the PS3 since wireless has a high latency but im sure downloading stuff from it wont be a problem?

Lol! So the worst game for the PS3 out of that list will be BC. I think everyone should just import a Wii: it's cheaper and has no BC problems.:D

so i guess a person must have a dsl connection .

Well considering it's price tag I'm sure most of the early adopters will have adsl since they'll want to get the most out of it and you can't if don't have your PS3 connected.;)

You can burn it to disk or load it off a flash drive, so they've made that easy enough
