Hi all

I happened across this provider of ADSL.

http://www.imaginet.co.za/main.asp

and they seem to be offering ADSL at unbelievable prices and was wondering if anyone uses them or has heard anything about them.

Thier offers seem a little too good to be true when compared to current Telkom prices.

Any pointers would be appreciated because I am currently with Telkom and looking for a way out.

I have heard of them, they have been around for a while, though I have never used them. Have you looked at the prices at Web Africa? http://www.webafrica.co.za , they often have the best prices.
 
MM yea they are my web hosts, never looked at their hosting packages. They are very cheap. Cheers, now just to find if a smallholding 3km outside of Belfast would be able to get ADSL or not. Somehow I think the answer from Telkom would be a big fat no.

my experience with imaginet.

I registered a domain with them about 3 years ago. Paid them the first year, they didnt phone/fax/email me invoices for the next 2 years. I also forgot about this, but would have paid it with a smile had they called or reminded me.

Anyway, 2 months ago i get a call from a debt collecting agency who wants to blacklist me for an upaid amount. half and hour spent arguing with them that its not my fault they didnt bill me.

Eventually paid the R280 odd rand and told them both to f off. I'll never use or refer anyone to imaginet.

They arent that grand anyway, web africa puts them to shame.

Its fine though, schoolfees. I now register domains myself through uniforum directly. cheaper and at least their accounts peeps know whats going on.

Just be careful, they do state that their prices are VAT exclusive!

I hate these providers who advertise prices excluding VAT! SARS should go after these companies and put a stop to it. For those who don't, the way it used to work is you go to a shop and then you payed tax on anything you bought, in other words you buy a R10 item (which is what the price tag stated) and then payed 7% tax at first then 10% tax on it. You had to calculate the price yourself and it was complicated and led to problems(such as people cheaping on Tax!) which is why the SARS did away with that system. But seems we are moving back in time to how it used to be.

I had a lecture the other day where our lecturer ranted about this issue and can't understand how the companies manage to get away with it seeing as it is a LEGAL requirement for prices to include VAT.

It's deceptive and in my opinion SARS should keep a very close eye on those companies books and all companies that use them.

I am using them at the moment without any problems, I was ticked about the excl vat thing which I didn't notice but they are still cheap.

I have never used anyone else with ADSL though so I have no idea if they are good or not?
