Foxconn Motherboards and Sparkle GeForce AGP Cards

Greetings to all...

I have a Foxconn mobo (661FX4MR-ES) info available at:

running Windows XP SP2. It refuses to detect my Sparkle GeForce 7600 GS AGP Card. Info available at:

I have the latest mobo drivers and nVidia drivers.

At least the monitor knows that it is plugged into something - the message “Cable unplugged” disappears when the monitor is plugged into the AGP card whether the PC is on or off.

When connected to the AGP Card, the Monitor will not show the POST screen nor the BIOS (Phoenix – updated 10-2005 which is the latest update for this BIOS) settings. It just sits there with the green light blinking. I have to plug it into the Integrated Graphics display.

I have tested the AGP slot by using two (older) AGP cards – 128MB and 64MB respectively - test fine.

I have also tested the Sparkle AGP Card on another PC – works fine.

The BIOS has no setting to disable the Integrated Graphics. It does allow you to select between AGP and PCI Slot.

The Specs on the Sparkle Card states that one needs an AGP 2 or AGP 3 slot but mentions no Voltage. The Specs on the Mobo states that it is indeed an AGP 2 slot - 1.5V only.

It is a fairly new AGP Card on an old(er) board, but reading up on the AGP architecture, there should be no compatibility issues…in theory anyway.

The main difference between the three “versions” of AGP, namely 1, 2 and 3 is the signal voltage of 3.3V, 1.5V and 0.8 V respectively. The APG Cards are also slotted differently to prevent incompatible Cards being used…all theory BS, as this proves.

I have Googled this for days now and I’m running around in circles…sigh

I am truly at a loss – any help will be appreciated.

sounds like your card is busted or agp slow is busted

go into your bios make sure your booting from agp but most board should detect which one your using

have u tested your card on another pc
have your tested another card in your pc?
 
A foxconn MB and a sparkle gfx card, i never knew PEP was selling computers now as well,hehe

It has an SiS chipset ... oh dear.

I have a 7600GS AGP and Core 2 Duo ... works fine with it and the Intel 865 chipset.

The motherboard only cost me R500.
 
foxconn boards are awesome and sparkle cards are not to bad either

foxconn are going to be come a major player in soon
 
foxconn are already a major player in the entry level and oem market..

but sparkle? lol
 
Foxconn makes the Intel-branded motherboards for Intel. Nough said.

Though I actually avoad their nvidia boards, their 6100 and 6150 boards have a crappy graphics problem when trying to run Media Player visualisations in full screen...
