The Official MyADSL Folding@Home Thread!

Q: What is Folding@Home?

A: Folding at home is a means of us taking our unused computer cycles to help Stanford University academics in medical research. The scientific bits can be found here: http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandegroup/science.html but simply put we will simulate the behavior of proteins and hence hopefully understand them.

Basically contributing to finding a cure to Cancer and Alzheimers by running a small app that uses unused CPU cycles. I think MyADSL should set up a team for folding. Lots of forums have done it and, like I said it's for a great cause.

I already contribute to the World Community Grid - sounds altruistic but it earns me free gb's with easynews.

Still - might be able to load this up on a spare machine.

me too.

My Core2 2.4Ghz E6600 @ 3.37Ghz has yet to break a sweat. It's simply doing nothing all day while I work.

O can the software use CUDA, I heard graphics cards are great for folding

Im gonna put the client on my portable HDD and leave it running while I do pracs and stuff at the varsity labs as well. I hope we can get a nice big South African folding community going. Plus with the PS3s folding client there should be a whole lot more folding going on in SA.
