Hi there, I would like to find out if there is any place in Gauteng that repairs floppy drives, this is a 28-PIN slim line Floppy drive that needs to be checked out, or if anyone can suggest where I get an IDC adapter 28 PIN to a normal Floppy drive

Then it's a stiffy drive. Get a external usb stiffy drive like they do with some laptops. Will probibly be cheaper than repairing an old one.

When your doing raid 0 install of XP you need a stiffy with the raid driver to get the darn thing working.
The problem is there's no USB ports this is an old Sampling Synthesis Controller

Visit any PC dealership. Most of these guys will probably give you a drive stripped from an old machine for free...
The standard 1.44 stiffy drive also works as a replacement on the old Roland MC50MKII synth's - just need to take the faceplate off to make it fit inside.

I would love a proper floppy disk the 360k / 1.2 meg ones....
I have an XT and 486 computer.
I really want to get my XT up and running i just want that and then i can make peace with it and get closure.

I do have 2 Stiffy Disk drives BUT i am really looking for Floppy Disks as in 360k
I am not 100 percent sure what floppy disk drive i have whether it is 360k or 1.2mb
I also do not know how the hell you reset the bios or how the hell you load fail safe settings on this XT i
have .
I have a working 486 and hope i can somehow get a floppy on the 486 and then create a bootable ms-dos 5 or whatever onthe floppy
then i can try boot up the XT
Im sad now.
