Any good DVD-RW combo drives to buy

My old DVD-RW drive was KIA when I tried to rip a CD ( a CD that I bought :))

Need to go and buy a new combo drive tomorrow - any recommendations ?

Looks like LG makes some nice combo drives ;)

I had 4 new LG Combo's in a period of 2 months. They just stopped working.
My current one is over a year old and no problem.

Don't know or it was because it was a new drive on the market or just bad luck.
 
My LG DVD-RAM drive is like 3 years old still going strong :)
 
I've got a Lite-On DVD-RW w/ Lightscribe.

Pros: Very Fast
Cons: Sounds like an aeroplane taking off inside my PC (i.e. its loud)
 
LG DVD RAM drives .. internal or external. had mine over 3yrs too.

supported by all software fully - bad and good ;)
plus burns all brands/makes cd/dvds
 
Got me 1 of those Samsung 18x DVD Ram drives :) so far very nice drive ;)
 
CD and DVD stuff is what breaks most now since stiffy drives are so rarely used. They are extremely mass produced at the least cost and have moving parts, so it figures...

Any that you would recommend ?

Needs to be compatible with my FS D1625C motherboard (yes I know that's an old mo-bo :p )
 
I still got my Gigabyte 8X DVD-writer *wooohoo* !! :>>

Only problem is u rarely get 8x+R or 8x-R discs, and the 16x discs... for some weird reason those discs only detect 2.4x writing speed. I have tried DVD+R and DVD-R (my writer is compatible with both). Apparently i must update the firmware. But ye. This gigabyte doesn't have a firmware out .(it even says so on Gigabytes website)

I installed a LG 18X DVD-RW drive for a uncle of mine. Works excellent. Verbatim 16x discs wrote and verified at 18X :>>>> *lucky batch*
