Have you ever requested assistance at for instance nvidia about one of their products? Once, I asked them whether an onboard 6200 Geforce can do widescreen resolutions. They then pasted me some "template" about a load of crap and telling me it has a max res of xxxx X xxxx which meant nothing to me, in reply. I didn't even bother replying to it.

I asked Pioneer via email a few weeks back about a problem that I was experiencing with my DVD writer. They also just pasted some template in reply, not really giving a crap about what I really asked them. Then I replied and said "get someone that CAN answer my questions if you cannot so don't paste me some template that isn't related to my problem" Then finally somebody with some tech knowledge actually helped me solve the problem. (bad diode :( )

Last night I asked Kalahari.net what the model number on one of their DVD burners was (since they only give some info on the burner on the website but no model number and it lacked a pic). So they just replied and pasted me all the info on the burner that was on the website (which I have already read), telling me that I should click on the link to see more info (no ****)!!! I even gave them an example of what the model number should look like! WTF??! I just kindly requested this time that they should give me a MODEL NUMBER as I already did in my first email. I gave them the example of a model number, AGAIN. Waiting for a response now, sigh.

It seems that at Take2 they only reply when they actually know an answer. I asked them on monday if they can get a specific Zalman PSU for me. No reply yet. In the past when I asked for info they responded in a timely manner (probably "templatable"-responses). Still haven't heard a thing about the zalmans. They do have some zalmans, but only the higher up ones so I don't think it can possibly be a problem to get hold of them. They can at least email me, telling me that they are trying to find a supplier of the requested product or that they can't get it.

Tech support people don't really read your emails or they are just plain stupid/lack required knowledge to help you/don't care enough. This is why I prefer going to a shop in town and speak to the people face to face. Sure, petrol is expensive, takes a lot of time and when you lack an aircon, you break a sweat, but seriously, at least they give you the model number/they listen to what you're actually asking them!

I just felt like venting.
I think all the above mentioned companies have great services except for the support part. I'm quite a big fan of nVidia and Take2 so don't get me wrong, they rock. They just need to touch up on their support then the world will be a better place ;P

*salute*
