Hey guys,

I just want to know if anyone else has heard of the above title? I've visited the website and it looks pretty awesome. ( http://www.lotro-europe.com) I for one am looking for an alternative to WoW...it's getting slightly old, boring and repetitive... Perhaps we could form a SA based guild for interested players and start anew on this great new adventure?

Let me know what you think,

Bel

I was part of the closed beta, now the open beta, its WOW skinned with Middle Earth textures. It is no where near as polished as WOW. If you want something diffrent from WOW look elsewhere.

I so tried to be part of closed beta but then they gave me nonsense reasons about having to reside in the EU :(. By the way, how does the gameplay compare? What's levelling like?

Cant compare it to WOW but i can to everquest 1,2 and vanguard. In short its pretty cool. Not as time intensive as the others ive mentioned. In short it is fun to play.

You can get a beta invite here http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=156802

You will only be able to play the european version of the game, as they have two different distributers, one for the states and one for the rest.

Played a hunter to lvl 30 on the yank version and found it pretty enjoyable.

After pre ordering the European version I have tried a Minstrel 11, Burglar 15, Captain 16. The initial quests get a bit boring after doing them 4 or 5 times. But in all that time i still have a huge part of the world to see. Levelling was a natural progression of doing quests, not sure whether they will be toning down the XP once they go live though.

If you preorder the servers will be open on the 14th April for you to begin playing. On release day, the 24th April you will be able to move those characters across and thus have a headstart on everyone else. Also by preordering you get the chance to buy lifetime subscription at 199 pounds or a reduced monthly rate .

There will be at least 4 of us from south Africa starting on the 14th.

Good Morning

I purchased a pre-order key a few days ago only to find out that I can only start playing on the 14th :(. Which server will you guys be playing on? I don't want to start leveling on a server while the locals are off galavanting on another .

The pre-order key should have allowed closed beta access though wth......

10 days to go and counting.

Yes, there is a monthly fee. It's in the region of 9 pounds or something. Quite reasonable...I think WoW is the same month-to-month. I'm strongly considering buying the collector's edition. It really looks awesome and the price may just make it that :P.

As has been stated there is a monthly fee. If you preorder you get the option of a lifetime subscription for 99.99 pounds / 149 Euros
or a reduced monthly subscription of 5.99 pounds/ 8.99 euros (have to take 6 months at a time).

As to the regular cost i am not sure

Where to buy ?

Where did you buy the pre-order key. I have been looking around but can't see how to get it.

You will have to order via codemasters though, only ones who will deal with SA, just received an email to say that they have shipped my box set.

Been playing since Friday, enjoying every minute, lvl 16 Hunter.

We are playing on the evernight server

Cool thanx I was trying the wrong selection (Pre-Order instead of buying a box) which didn't have so many options. What edition did you buy ?

Woohooh ! Excellent got the pre-order via Codemasters - I guess I'll be playing tonight !

i was looking into this, just one query...

Apparently the lifetime subscription offer is valid until the end of May (completely unsure)

If true, can i buy the box version in a store (prob overseas) and then activate it here and choose lifetime subscription?

Thanks!

I bought the Standard edition, not really worried about special manuals, figurines or maps. Would never use them so its a waste. The end result is that all the versions give you exactly the same game.

Character name is Hellhath.

To get the lifetime offer you have to preorder before the 24th April. Note that is get the preorder version, on codemasters it cost 5 pounds but when you buy the box set from them they give you a 5 pound discount, so in reality the preorder doesnt cost you anything

Welcome Lord of the Rings Online Founder!

Codemasters Online Gaming are pleased to announce that we’ve now improved and simplified the way in which users can redeem their Founder Offer by implementing the whole system into our Player Account system located at http://www.codemasters.com/cog/ .

Upon entering your retail box product code on or after April 24th 2007, full instructions will be provided on how to redeem either your Founder's lifetime subscription or 6-month package.

We’d also like to announce, that with this new improved system there is no longer ANY time limit on when you can redeem your offer. As long as you have your Founder code available to you and a full retail key, you’ll be able to redeem the offer.

Thank you – we’ll see you in Middle-earth!

Played a bit last night on the other English server because when I logged on it said Evernight was not available (due to maintenance). Looks pretty good so far - but I didn't get very far until that server came up for maintenance as well. I really want to get to the monster play as well. My next char I'll start on Evernight (maybe I'll call him NoFury :) ) I like the idea of the LOTR story unfolding around you. I'll have to play a bit more before I decide on which version I'll buy. I also have no idea on expiry of the lifetime subscription - I see this is included in the Collector's Edition as well.

I've just preordered the special edition from take2.co.za. Seems I'll have to wait until the 10th of May but at least it'll give me time to focus on my studies. I look forward to seeing you all in game :). I'm going to start either an Elven Loremaster or Guardian.

Played last night on Evernight server. Started a dwarf hunter called Eurig. Didn' expect to see such a huge troll and Gandalf so soon ! I really enjoyed it. Brought my char up to level 5. So far there is running but not so much as in World of Warcraft. I hope it continues at this pace.

Where to Buy

Hi Guys

Just a bit confused. I want to order myself the Special Edition LOTRO. How would I go about doing this in SA. The LOTRO website just lists UK stores, who delivers to SA. Some of you say that you are playing the game already, how did you get the game as I would like to follow those sames steps, who did you pre-order through, any links u could post. Not to worried about not getting it by 24th April but would like is ASAP though

Thanks

Mark

Will do thanks, was just hoping that there might be a quicker way to get it. guess I will continue playing WOW and AA till then, thanks
