If you look at the price differential between Play Addict and Pro Intro, iBurst value the 64k throttle at R50pm, which is similar to other throttled broadband offerings. So for comparison I've taken R50 off the price of the pro packages when working out the comparative costs.
While most packages are more expensive than those offered by MTN and VC, iBurst acheives better economies of scale for heavier bandwidth use, say from the Pro Classic upwards. However, above the Pro Classic, cheaper per MB rates can be achieved on ADSL.
So on a bang for your buck market comparison, only the Pro Classic still holds its own.
Additional bandwidth charges are ludicrous, however, at 24.9c/MB on Play packages and 19.9c/MB on Pro packages.
What's with paying 11.6c/MB for your first 9.5 GB and 19.9c/MB for additional bandwidth? Stupid, really.
And then look at the bandwdith jumps versus the price jumps. In the pro packages you go from 1500MB to 2500MB for 6c/MB. From 2500MB to 3500MB for 7c/MB. From 3500MB to 6500MB for 10c/MB. From 6500MB to 9500MB for 6.7c/MB.
Those are comparable with ADSL. And then they go and spoil it all with stupid, idiotic, nonsensical R19.9c/MB tops ups.
