Hi,

I have searched the forums for some information on this and would just like to ask for some clarity, we have been using smoothwall for some time now and have recently relocated only to find out at the last minute that the ADSL line has been delayed by 6 weeks.

In the interim we would like to use a 3G router or modem, my question is around which one would be recommended? Has anyone got a working Smoothwall/3G connection? I would prefer to use the router option via PPPoE but I would like to make sure it will work and if there is a user name/password required or any mods to the smoothie for this to work.

Runnine a VPN so the connection is vital since we are using dynamic dns for the connection, any help would be appriciated.

Regards

internetvpn or unrestricted APN is what you would need for VPN to work - incoming connections would need the unrestricted APN.

As for Smoothwall, you could try a PCMCIA<-->PCI adapter with an HSDPA data card, otherwise Smoothwall Express v3 has a 2.6 kernel that might make things easier, and might be better to get the Huawei USB HSDPA modem working with Smoothwall...
