I decided to take the plunge and get myself a contract with Virgin Mobile since I saw that they had the phone that I wanted to get. (HTC TyTN)

So I phoned them up and ordered the phone on a V0 post-paid account and everything was going according to plan. Unfortunately for them, I was in a bit of a rush. I did this on Monday (19th of March) morning and they said they'd have to confirm employment etc, all the norm for credit applications. So that was fine.

Tuesday (20th of March) came around, there was no news from VM and nobody had phoned my workplace to confirm my employment. Wednesday came around (It was a public holiday, 21st of March), I hadn't heard anything from VM and I needed to get my phone urgently. So I phoned up Virgin Mobile to cancel my VM contract and cancel the phone order.

When I first ordered on Monday, they charged me R55 for the access pack from my Credit Card. So that was fine. When I phoned them up to cancel, I told them that they can still send me the access pack, only I wanted it prepaid. They said they'd cancel the order and make a new order for the access pack and ship it to me. They also said they'd make a note that I'd already paid for it.

Friday (23rd of March), somebody from VM phones my workplace to confirm employment which left me a bit restless as I'd canceled my phone order and converted to prepaid. I was wondering why somebody was still phoning.

No problem there. Next week, Friday (Yes, 27th of March), VM phones me up again and told me that the access pack will be there on Monday (1st of April).
The speed didn't exactly impress me as it was almost two weeks later and I still had not seen any kind of sign of my access pack.

Yaaadah yaaadah yaadah...

1st of April my access pack arrives, I activate it... no problem... then I discover that I'm still on a V0 Post-Paid account after I told them to change it to prepaid. I think there was a break down in communication.

Okay, so I set up my phone for VM and go to the V-zone... to check things out.

Your credit account balance: R 104.00
The value of calls and data usage you
have not been billed for: R 1.40
The amount you still owe
on previous bills: R 105.40
Your V Rewards: R 0.00

Ummm... can someone explain this to me please? My credit account balance is... what? I did use about R1.40 to do some misc things (Place the first billable call, test GPRS). But how can the amount I still owe on previous bills be R105.40??? It's only been one day and I haven't been using it. I only ordered a VM sim to test out the network, not to make calls or SMS or anything.

I paid R55 for the access pack already and there was no mention of a courier fee, so wtf?

Can anyone help???

Not a good start.

Maybe they're charging you for the phone somehow?
I seriously doubt it because the phone, HTC TyTN costs a lot... and it would be quite a bit more than R104.00.

I don't really know what's going on here. Maybe I'll have to phone VM tonight.

What a hassle. :(

Thats what I thought too but I don't know what else it could be, VM don't really know what they're doing though. Email them, probably easier than phoning.

Hi TigerTael,

Thanks for the email which reflects your post.
As I understand the matter the issue has been resolved, and applicable credits passed.

If I am mistaken, please let me know.

Regards,

Gerald.
