WRT54G3G Router from PCMall

Two weeks ago PCMall had this router listed on their website for R1,695.00. I look now to order it, and all of the sudden the price has shot up to R2,030.00.
That's R335 in under 2 weeks... seems like they are expecting to sell quite a few with the new data prices in effect, and have now decided to rip people off.

I have always supported PCMall, and have always recommended them, but I am loath to give them an extra R335. Anyone know where else the router can be purchased? Price?
 
Not perhaps because of the Rand weakening? I see a number of online store's prices have increased lately....

Hmmm, R1,599.00 for that or R564.30 (VAT included from Rectron) for a Gigabyte Aircruiser router that does the exact same thing with the same specs (WEP, WPA, Firewall, DHCP, 802.11b/g, 4 x LAN, Wireless, 1 x WAN, warra warra)? I use this and it is SUPERB!

To each his own, of course. :)

the whole 6% decrease lol dont think to many ppl will go bandwidth crazy

Those specs you posted do not include a slot & firmware support for controlling a 3G|HSDPA data card...:rolleyes:
 
That's not the point killadoob...

Even the 11dBi LPDA antenna from Uniterm is cheaper than Poynting, who is the manufacturer.

Yes well the Linksys WRT54G3G router does have a PCMCIA slot for a 3G|HSDPA data card as well as the firmware to control such data cards, whereas the "Gigabyte Aircruiser router" does not appear to have a PCMCIA slot nor the ability to control a 3G|HSDPA data card...

Show me one place in his original post where he said that was a key feature he had to have :rolleyes:

But hey, if he wants that one, I won't stop him :) Seems a nice enough router
 
The only reason I would look at that particular router is for the PCMCIA slot for a HSDPA data card.

Eish :( the fact that the thread title is "WRT54G3G Router from PCMall", which indicates that support for 3G|HSDPA data cards is a key requirement...

So if I wanted to buy a (Random router name with WPA in it) router and I wanted to use WEP encryption on it, I indicated that WPA is a key requirement?:rolleyes:

You're defending your initial assumptions, I just pointed this out to you in as nice a manner as I could think of ;) I'm not defending anything, just playing Devil's Advocate :rolleyes:
 
To settle this now... If I was looking for any old router, then I would have said, "Wireless router from PCMall", but I thought that I was being rather specific when I mentioned a "Model Number"... :D
