C&C 3 coming May 10th - Demo in the works

Hmmmm, RTS on a console.....

Haven't tried it yet but I guess it should work. The new controllers seem to be more suited for it then the old ones were.

If anyone does get it I'd like to hear how it plays.

Well I gave BFMEII a whirl and I must say I was very impressed by the controls, they do work, and in some ways better than a PC for me. It had a fe wother quirks that put me off (like camera hight to small a mini map etc) but they've apparently addressed these for CC3.

do you think they will enable the game to be controlled with the GH2 Explorer guitar? :p

this is ooooold news , but anyway apparently they found a really nice way to control RTS on consoles ( the creators of halo wars said ) and i think C&C might use same controls ?
I think it will be more fun on console because of LIVE and all.
No more "muted" battles

Downloaded the 1GB demo over the weekend, it offers Boot Camp, a few GDI missions and LIVE gameplay via the EA servers.

Overall quite impressive since I had tried the PC demo a while back. Graphics are identical and its easier to make out units on a larger HD screen if you have one. Sound is top notch as its true 5.1 digital audio. Controls are very BFME2 like with improvements to the interface. Loading times are virtually nill which is quite an improvement over BFME2.

Online gameplay is hectic, in just under 4 minutes you can build quite a few infantry units and send them to harass the enemy base. Needless to say things get scrappy quickly and practising with the interface and controls makes a big difference in controlling the battle's flow. :)

Overall a worthy purchase over the PC version IMO.

Some questions for the gamepad RTS'ers:

1. How do you select multiple units and assign a squadron number? I would imagine controlling lots of units must be interesting.

2. What happens if you don't have a HD TV? The units / view size must be awful.

I want to know how this controls ? please tell me. I have not played "BFME2"..so i have NO IDEA.

Basically you select a unit via the A button, whilst pressing the Left Trigger and A button you select ALL UNITS on screen. With the Right Trigger you can then bring up the GUI interface which has the option to assign them to a group.

The RT basically opens up the options screen for whatever unit you have selected, buildings give you the build queue, units give you their stance and so forth.

With the LEFT ( if i recall ) D-pad key you can shuffle between the various existing groups already created. With the RIGHT D-pad you can use the various powers allocated to the GDI or NOD forces. I could have shuffled up these keys btw. :p

Double tapping the A key on a space on the map creates a move-attack order while the UP D-pad key you home into your main base. This goes on and i cannot recall all the various game controls off my head right now. ;)

But it it basically like a cursor you move around like a mouse ? Is it hard to control...or does it just take some getting used to ?

I would imagine its quite painful learning curve if you come from a PC RTS background.

If it's like BFME2 the most important difference is that the "pointer" is fixed in the middle of the screen, unlike the mouse in a typical rts that floats freely. Personally I really liked that.

In C&C 3 the pointer floats like a regular mouse cursor. ;)
