Abortion ship readies to sail again

*sigh*

Even in this day and age we have extermination camps  . Well at least it is ocean going and not confined to a certain area. I guess you can call that progress.

Humans systematically sent to be [-]exterminated[/-] [-]murdered[/-] aborted like on a conveyor belt.

One would have thought that kind of practice had been left behind in the history books.

I guess not :(

Personally I think its quite shocking that there are still EU countries that don't allow women this basic choice, whether or not you are pro-abortion you should at least give people the right to make their own choice instead of making it for them.

So why do we make laws against murder?

Abortion isn't illegal in RSA, so take it up with the government. The majority want's (needs) it, especially with all the rape and AIDS in the country.

Actually technically it is; The constitutional court has overturned the act which legalised it in SA on the grounds that the public was not consulted before the law was put into place.

I may be mistaken, but I believe the govt. was given a year to rectify the issue.

As far as i know, they did rectify the issue and it is now legal again, up until the end of the first trimester.

abortion=murder :(

It can't be anything else.

What like the mother making the ultimate choice of life or death for the child? Does the child have no say? Why is the child not allowed the basic choice of whether he/she wants to live or die?

"Allowing" a mother to kill her child is no different to allowing her to murder anybody else. Like you for instance :p . Would you like somebody to make that choice for you? How would you feel if you had no say in the matter? In fact how do you feel now knowing that you could have been aborted? That your own mother could have murdered you? Think about it. Not such a nice feeling is it.

Murder is murder whoever is the victim

Personally I am for the death penalty.

IMO making the ultimate choice for an innocent human is unacceptable. Unless it is for self defense. Hence why I am for abortion if the mother's life is act risk. Some argue that the mother should be allowed to die while the child must live but that is another issue.

Now murder is an interesting word. Generally murder is a term meaning "the killing of an innocent human being". That is how I view it anyway.

So IMO the death penalty is not murder.

I meant whether it is some random person or the child being carried by the mother during pregnancy.

They are both innocent human beings and as such have a right to life no matter what. Except self defense or should I say self preservation.

I suppose the question then becomes at what point does a foetus become a human being? I don't think there's really one definitive answer on that. The point is also that at that stage the life of the baby, if you're indeed going to categorise it as a baby, is inextricably bound up with the mother's body and her subsequent rights, its not a black and white issue, I just think people shoud be allowed the choice.

Housebreakers

Get real folks!

What is your average housebreaker's definition of murder? Perhaps he is only ensuring his survival and does not give a **** about yours?

He will not be sentenced to death for being your judge, jury and executioner.

This is a situation which is morally indefensible.

Why can he sentence me to death when society cannot do the same to him?

Examine the formulators of the anti death sentence laws and examine the perpetrators of the murders.

Is there any correlation between the two groups using any basis of comparison?

Controversial?

You bet it is!

There is no single criterion which you can use to distinguish a foetus from an adult human being in terms of whether either should be protected legally from being killed.

As for the fact that the mother's body is involved, so what? We force parents to take care of their children, legally, or face the legal consequences. Failure to do so can result in a prison sentence, and it's certainly no less of a strain on one's body or one's freedom (arguably it's a little less direct in the case of the strain on the body).

I read an article on the topic a while back. Basically, the foetus does not form the nerve connections in the brain that are required to be a thinking creature until about 5 months or so. Up till then it may be living, but it not really human, at least as we define human beings.

Um...because he is a criminal committing a crime and society is presumably law abiding.

Both groups enjoy a roast dinner on sundays ???

So is current thought all that matters? What about braindead individuals who then later recover from their coma?

If it's merely the current ability to think, then why do we protect individuals who are braindead (with the possibility of being revived)?
