I have hated those PS3 tv ads ever since I first saw them, then they came out with the magazine cover of that woman on the toilet.

Now if that wasn't enough they have slaughtered a live goat as a PR stunt and invited people to eat out of it's stomach... Seriously what the hell is wrong with these people?

I would love for some Sony fanboys to explain this to me as I just don't get it...

Oh and they also had half naked woman walking around at the same time... weird company

I see they've also removed the strange clown from the local version of that Bravia ad where you see the paint exploding all over the buildings. South Africa just isn't ready for the clowns...

Oh please ppl what the hell, do you honeslty think they would slaughter a goat for promotion purposes, omg. I just cant believe you people can actually believe that.

It would be like us going to shot a few jews with my rifle and cut off his ear for a trophy or something stupid like that to launch the new game of COD, this is just a typical sony hater.

So now they say its ALL SONY, nut it reads to promote God of war 2, what does sony have to do with promoting GOW2 anyways.

Gosh

GOW2 is a Sony exclusive. No other console or PC has/will have it. Whether the goat is real or not only time will tell. Personally I don't think they'd be that stupid. More than likely the goat was fake.

Still, some common sense would have served them much better. That's just a stupid thing to do. Sadly something like this will only have a negative effect on gaming as a whole. People opposed to voilent games will only use this as ammo.

Really, really stupid Sony. :(

I guess the stunt is getting what Sony wanted though. exposure...

Real or not does it matter?

Seems like the Daily Mail is doing what it does best. The reporter did not even attend the event. Not saying that I'm a Sony fan, but how about a bit of factual reporting.

Here's an article with Sony's response...

ok... the thing they were is, they weren't aiming the event towards western countries(and yes we western.... ish) there wasn't even a british reporter there. and would you believe they goat thing is truditional (excuse my spelling) in Greece and they god of war game is a Greek methology based, so that part kinda adds up, and as for the stomach eating think, there's cooked food inside the stomach(still not tasteful) in fact it's like a stew. the animal rights organisation can't do any thing because its a trudition etc... and it's not an add, it's a game launch, which means it's promoting, but it's not going on bill boards and on tv. and it doesn't matter if it's a sony exclusive, that just great for sony that they got an exclusive(whats left after microsoft got hold of them) it's still a private company, of which sony has no control over. people are just trying to frame sony. oh well, the law suits that are gonna follow are gonna be fun to watch

”We recognise that the use of a dead goat was in poor taste and fell below the high standards of conduct we set ourselves. We are conducting an enquiry to establish the circumstances behind the event in order to ensure this does not happen again. We also apologise to anyone offended by the article in the OPSM (subscription copies were sent out ahead of street date).”

At least they accepted their mistake on this one.

So they didn't kill the goat at the party and people where not made to eat out of it's "still warm" carcass.

It was still a stupid thing to do by Sony's own admission and they deserved to be lambasted in the press about it...

How ironic and most of you folks gave Tony Yengeni a hard time about slaughtering a bull and sneered about how uncivilized the black African people were for doing this.

Now we have a bunch of pale half naked Greeks doing the same thing and even wearing animal skins for a cheap PR stunt to promote a Japanese console :).

Greece ... the cradle of civilization ...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHA HA.

How ****ing funny.

While I love my Xbox360 and Microsoft products I am not as mental as you are about it that I feel the need to troll the internets for any bit of fluff and nonsense from a dodgy UK rag that puts the PS3 in a bad light.

Wow would I have never figured that out, thanks for the translation.

Now I don't troll the internet for fluff and nonsense about the PS3 and if you actually paid any attention at all you would notice that I posted a lot of good things about the PS3 in the last few weeks as they [-]are[/-] where doing better.

But when they get lambasted all over the internet for a stupid PR stunt I am allowed to call them on it as well.

It was a dumb thing to do and Sony Head Office have even admitted it, they don't need defending and the "dodgy UK rag" managed to get Sony to recall all of the PSM's of the shelves. Maybe not so dodgy after all.

Yeah, sorry tibby, I'll defend Gavin on this one, it's been covered by almost every major Gaming Blog/Site on the net.

Besides, it's usually me, not Gavin, that goes trolling the net for PS3 bashings ;)

Well they actually did not slaughter a goat right there in public but got a carcass from a butcher ... so what is the big deal about that ... the still warm tasty food bits inside was just offal they packed inside.

For GOW 2 release I thought it was rather cool and authentic.

At least it was not as lame as Bill Gates cameo wif trenchcoat and shotgun in Doom when they showed DirectX to the world.

No one is saying you don't have to like it... I think it was yet another one of Sony's bad pr stunts. Following on from their crappy tv ads and magazine covers. They seem to be trying to shock people into taking notice of their product instead of letting the products do the talking.
