Speechless actually, the persons identity is not known so I would gather nobody else knows the persons sex or race either so where does Bheki Cele get off with that statement???

Even so, pointing automatic weapons at people and endangering their lives is of serious concern, racist cause you complain, nah?

Durban - KwaZulu-Natal's transport MEC on Tuesday again justified his convoy's recent speeding and called for the name of the "racist" motorist who filmed it.

"He is a self-made, arrogant, non-accountable individual who purports to be a good citizen and I will dare to argue that he is also a racist," said Cele in a statement.

He said the motorist, who had used his cellphone to film Cele's convoy speeding at 160km/h, had broken the law.

The Witness newspaper, which ran the story in April, has refused to reveal the name of its source.

"We want his name so that he could explain his breaking of the law which includes speeding, using a cellphone while driving and threatening the Premier's security."

Cele said the National Road Traffic Act of 1996 exempted the police, traffic officers and defence force members from speeding with blue lights. This included the police's VIP protection unit driving MECs in "the execution of their duties", he said.

Late for campaign launch

Cele renewed his accusation that the Witness had a "close relationship with a political party".

Both the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) and the Witness have denied claims that the newspaper is an IFP mouthpiece.

Cele said he was late for the launch of a pedestrian safety campaign in KwaMashu after his flight from Johannesburg to Durban was delayed by more than an hour.

This he argued, turned a "well-planned and scheduled meeting" into an "emergency".

The chairperson of Zululand co-ordinated traffic committee, Paul Oliver, told Sapa on Friday that courts would look at life-and-death situations to determine whether an emergency was involved.

"If a law-enforcement officer is late for a meeting, he should not be speeding. I would not deem it to be an emergency in the execution of his duties."

Cele said "unforeseen circumstances" and crises to which MECs - but not ordinary South Africans - had to respond forced them to be late for scheduled meetings.

'Not above the law'

In an editorial, The Witness said it refused to be bullied by Cele into revealing its source.

"Just because, in this instance, the speedsters happen to be senior politicians - and, by Cele's own admission, himself, whenever he is late for an appointment - doesn't make speeding excusable."

The newspaper reminded the MEC and his colleagues that they were not above the law and called on them to use their power with "maturity and discretion".

Cele should be fined for speeding, possibly have his car confiscated. Reckless driving, disregard for the law causes accidents. The person who filmed this, whether he is black or white, should be exempted. He should not be named, as the corrupt government will abuse their power to extract vengeance.

This where you purchase a gun to protect you from the criminals and the government which is supposed to protect you from the criminals.

wtf Bheki cele is OBVIOUSLY the biggest racist for assuming that the white/indian/coloured guy who recorded it is racist!

Lock the fool up!

Unfortunately, that would mean the guys has to come out in the open, and then they would know who he is. I hope SA has a good witness protection program...

If I knew who he is I would shake his hand, im sure most 'normal' people would.

I want to know for a fact whether say I, as a citizen can open a charge against Cele for endangering the public and breaking the law. Its about time someone did more than just moan.

Cele is an idiot, a typical Banana Republican. Being late for a Pedestrian Safety meeting? My God, the irony of it, in a way I wish he had knocked down a pedestrian with his 'He Man Convoy' but i wish no such harm on any pedestrian to prove a point, but it would have been fun to watch him squeal his way out of that one.

This sort of ANC mentality makes me seriously angry and upset: Busted and still cock-sure he is right.

Cele, if you were to die in one of your hi-speed getting to a meeting convoys I would laugh my white arse off. Hows that for racist you stupid son of a rabid hyena?

Like I said in the first post, the pictures or movie that this person took might indicate what race he or she is, but this should not be a justification for labelling that person a racist, Cele is very far off course here.

Cele is black. Therefore the motorist's actions are racist.

It doesn't have to make sense.

It is about racism.

This type of racism disgusts me and the motorist should be ashamed of himself.

Bad ugly nasty racist motorist.

This concludes your brainwashing session. Please return your brains to the 'on' position.

The problem is that race is the first thing the gov and ANC members use when critisised. This only polarizes the country instead of building it. It starts right at the top with Thabo. The sooner the gov realises that critisism is good and a way to improve, the better. If someone complains about something, say "What can we do to improve it", not "Thats not our fault, it was because of Apartheid". How can you fix something if you won't listen when people tell you it is broken.

Next time I am late for a meeting I'm putting my headlights and emergency flashers on and driving like a batt out of hell. If he can do it why cant I. Delayed planes and traffic delays are part of life, we as normal citizens deal with it all the time the ppl you going to see understand this. Why did he recklesly endanger the lives of other motorists and pedestrians just to get a meeting. Surely there was enough food and wine (paid for by us tax payers) to keep everyone entertained for 1 hr till he got there. If he was dying from a gunshot wound I might understand the rush but a meeting .......

This is the day I hoped would never happen. This is the beginning of South Africa's slide into Mugabeism. When an elected or appointed official can get away with this kind of junk...

Not to sound superior, but if this happended in the US the guy's head would have been on a platter for the first taker and the press. Dismissed, probably prosecuted, at least on the slander bit.

Here's my take

The whistleblower is a racist and guys like Cele are to blame. They really don't give the average guy much of an opinion of their own kind...

You may ask, what happened to "We are all South Africans"... please try and understand that I am posting this from Cele's viewpoint as I understand it.
