Very very bad Ping :(

Hey peeps

Okay i upgraded my ADSL from 512 ti the 1mb Telkom ADSL line on Monday.

My line has successfully been upgraded and my speeds are good in everything accept Guildwars.

On my 512 I use to get a ping of round about 600 - 780ms, which was okay but
now that I have a 1mb line, I am only getting between 1200 - 2600ms, which is bloody well terrible :(

I have tried to switch all traffic off to make Guildwars the only program using my connection but to no avail..

Is there any particular reason why this is?
Please i need help :)

Have you tried pings for other games?

Also, what's your line attenuation and signal to noise ratio?

I have tried other games and they are all running fine.

My Downstream - Upstream

SNR Margin: 26.0 14.0 db
Line Attenuation: 26.5 15.5 db
Data Rate: 4096 384 kbps

Any suggestions? As i don not understand this :(

If it's just GW then chances are Telkom is heavily shaping the port which GW uses to communicate (6667 iirc).

Are you sure no one else is having problems with connecting to GW and lag?

Lag has been bad lately but not that bad. I have 512 and on shaped I have 450-600 ping and on unshaped aI have 210-300.

There seems to have been some issues on dsl lately, do a tracert and see where it starts to go pear.

Guild wars has been pretty laggy lately for me, and I have been getting bad pings. Average ping around 600ms, but occasioanly I spike at over 2000ms. I have a 384k line. I'm quite jealous, chatting to people overseas playing guild wars, the one guy had an average ping of 40ms. You barely get those on LANS :)

Havent had any problems with GW lately, getting high pings here and there but not lag.
2 weekends ago on an unshaped account I got high pings, close to 1000ms but surprisingly not lag or stickiness.
That was the weekend of international problems.
It has been much better the last week.
Playing on green mostly.
