Intel® Celeron® M 520 (1.6GHz) vs. M 440 (1.8GHz)

Shows how much I know.... Looking at the above I would say the 1.8GHz is faster, but apparently not.
The key is that the M 520 is a higher number than the M 440, which makes the M 520 (1.6GHz) a faster processor than the M 440 (1.8GHz). Is this true? And why? Is faster always better?
I would appreciate if someone out there would continue my education and wisen me up.
 
About 4 years ago the higher the ghz or mhz the faster the processor. This is not the case anymore, you have to look at FSB (font side bus) speeds ad the speed in which the memory operate (DDR400, DDR2 533mhz etc.), there's a lot one can say about this subject but this is what it basically boils down to. Celerons are usually cheaper coz their FSB speed is lower than you Centrino or Core 2 Duo processors
