Hi guys,

Please could you add your voices to the petition that Prophecy members EyeGod and Slapdash started. It's time to put some pressure on Microsoft South Africa regarding the introduction of Xbox Live over here.

Had they decided not to publish the names and gamer tags side by side I would have probably signed.

EDIT - Requiring all fields to be filled means excluding ppl who havent figured out how to game the system and get a gamer tag from overseas.

You could always "fudge" your name ;)
Could do but why lie on a petition? If they're going to send it to Microsoft SA then why the need to publish everyones details?

Besides - the requirement of all the fields is a bit of a catch-22 goof imo. ;)

Well it is coming, we're pretty certain of that. First it was due in April, now I've heard end of the year. With the new Marketplace restriction coming in, the guys want something done about it now. Even if it's just making the cards officially available for purchase locally.

..With the new Marketplace restriction coming in, the guys want something done about it now....

What is the new Marketplace restriction that is coming and when would these restriction take effect? I was about to buy a 12 month Live UK Gold membership, so now I'm not to sure..

Well they've been implemented and they don't seem as draconian as expected, we can still do pretty much everything we could before, so don't stress, although I wouldn't necessarily buy a whole 12 months, hopefully we'll get live before year end, but then again, knowing SA . . . .

From the ppl I've spoken to the situation is as such ...

The honchos in Redmond that manage xbox live have a (minimum) reference specification for a xbl node which would guarantee a certain level of (performance) experience to users.

Connectivity/communication in SA does not match that reference spec. so it would be difficult for MS the 'offically' guarentee the level of experience they wish to be associated with here. So we sit in the the current status quo ... MS know SA users use the UK node, but for now I dont think they mind as this is not offical and therefore no expectations need to be met.

Can't say I agree with this, however as usual SA is does not feature big on the global scale, so not sure if they (at xbox hq) would bend their rules to accommodate us?
