Port forwarding and downloading torrents on a Telkom router.

At the outset let me apologise for raising a subject that has been covered many times but which I just cant seem to get the hang of. If I am posting this in the wrong thread would the moderators please move it. I have a Telkom Marconi 4 port router and desperately want to set it up to be able to download torrents. I have tried to follow the instructions on port forward.com, tried to obtain a static ip address etc but all my ignorant attempts get me exactly nowhere.Does anyone have a link that will guide me through this procedure in simple laymans terms or would any of you with the required knowledge pm or email me with the info that I need. My operating system is Vista Ultimate if that info helps. Thank you all and apologies for being such a technology idiot.
