Elephants 1 Humans 100000000

At the risk of sounding heartless I say good for the elephant!!!!!

What is also easy to forget though is that this type of activity, as cruel as it may sound to some, contributes greatly to the conservation effort.
There was another american hunter mauled in the eastern cape a month or so ago by a lion. Thing jumped on him and he had to use his sidearm to kill it while it was sitting down for supper, ontop of him.

Hmmm I remember a shocking image of a mauled dead 8 year old child, dragged by an elephant in India in a National Geographic docu about
elephant outbursts of anger. It didn't look pretty, in fact, I still get sick
when I remember that image, and I've seen a lot of dead bodies (including
accident victims) in my line of work.

People are people, one human life is more important than all elephants out there. Thinking anything else is scandalous, IMHO.

Remember we all kill animals, when we eat meat or even when we do unrelated activites, for example, the place where your
house now stands used to be a habitat for millions of insects, plants and billions of bacteria.

There is more of a soul in the eye's of an elephant, than in most human eye's.

Sorry my friend but our wildlife , our heritage, the living world around us is more important than you seem to care about.
Your attitude speaks volumes towards your respect for the world within which we live and for the other species that SHARE this world with us.
If you view the world as a whole, and remove the emotion from your thought, you will quickly realise that the human species, is a parasitic species, destroying much of its habitat, and the habitat of many other life forms.
There is only one expendable life on this planet, the most prolific.

Absolute rubbish. Some people dont deserve a spot on this planet.

While I am fully aware of the need to cull animals including elephant, it makes me very sad (elephant culling). There is no easy answer and the argument used by elephant hunters is that the money goes back into conserving elephants.

If this was completely true it would be a nice balance, however i suspect the bulk of the money goes to the hunting outfit. I would like governments to be the only ones to issue permits for elephant hunting and for them to be paid the money. The hunter who takes the guest hunters out for the hunt should simply get his daily rate for guiding etc.

As I see it-
1. There is a need for elephant culling.
2. When it's done right, it's virtually a 1:1 shot/death ratio.
3. Keep hunting money out of central government hands.

Why? Only the government has the large scale conservation programmes needed for the likes of elephant.

For example: Lets say Kruger Park has too many elephants and they decide 50 need to be culled. They issue 50 permits and charge money for these. Then private outfitters accompany the buyers of these permits. The money then goes back into the Kruger Park for ongoing conservation efforts.
