Like this title says, please recommend me a good firewall application to use with Vista.

I don't want any all in one suites like Kaspersky Internet Security etc. I just want a stand alone firewall.

My antivirus is Avast! and it works beautifully, it's fast and quiet, so I don't want to mess around with changing AV etc. ;) :p

I've got a router firewall, but it's not good enough.

There is a dns client flaw in default Vista installations, which was patched last week. Right before the patch I was lucky enough to visit some site or whatever that infected my system, disabled system restore and killed my dns service. I had to format and reload :p :D ;)

It's a bugger......

Solution:

Take old PC with 2 networks cards in, load Smoothwall (lunix firewall OS) and there you have one of the best firewalls you could want...

Thanks for the reply supersunbird ;) It is valid, but I don't have an old pc bro, and it it's quite overkill for my humble setup :p

Any other thoughts?

lol, Linux people always expect everyone to have about 20 old P1's lying around their house for some reason :p

I guess they all do...

heh nah... also struggled. Let us know if you find something.

I found an article yesterday on wikipedia with a software list that had some Vista compatible firewalls, I can't find it today ;) It is magically missing from my history as well :p :D
