New PC with a budget of about R6000 - R7000

My Dad is looking for a new PC to buy, budget about R6000 - R7000, something decent with parts like a HD and that that will not need to be upgraded too soon in the future.

HD: Seagate 320
Ram: 1GB
PCI Express graphics card

My Dad wants to play the odd game, but it is a not game freak, wanting the beefiest machine.

Any specs and prices?

Well, its not my fault he needs a gaming card in the system or do you think his dad should game on the onboard Intel graphics?

If it wasnt like that, there would be a Samsung 17" LCD in there...

Hehe. No offense meant. I just hate the fact that LCD's are still so expensive and that you can still get CRT's at all!

I wouldn't recommend onbaord graphics to anyone for anything.
 
Yeah, I won't waste my time or money with an LCD.
 
PSU... And thats about it, there are not many BAD brands anymore (like that one company that had these motherboards called A+).

You also dont want to go Pentium 4 or D and only Cleron if you really cant afford more, best is New Intel or AMD dual cores. One can play a bit with that system I put down, like getting some AMD stuff and then you could have an LCD perhaps...
 
What about a X2 3600+ system?
Haven't heard to much about these new bottom of the range Intels, I smell a dual core celeron :P

There are some benchmarks for you. They are cheap but certainly no performance pigs. They keep up with the E4300 and I've work on one of those the other day and they are really snappy with Windows XP...
 
Whats the price difference between that mobo & a equivalent AMD mobo?
