What you think of this card?

Hey thats sweet man. Same thing different price right?

Its the same thing yes (a 8800GTS 640MB), but a different price and brand. For some reason the gainward brand is priced a lot higher at my supplier, the price went up for some reason...

I'd take the ASUS anyway, Gainward support is non-existent :(

Is any (graphics card) support existant in South Africa?

For some reason I've never needed to phone my graphics card manufacturer... would that just be instead of taking it back for a refund if it breaks?

Is that 640mb needed? Isn't 320mb enough, or not worth the price difference? I haven't looked at these cards much... just wondering if it would be better for the OP.

It would depend at what resolutions you are gaming. 1680 x 1050 and above the 640 mb starts making a difference anything lower and it's the exact same performance. But with bigger textures sizes in games latter this year that might change.

Hmm.. might still depend on the resolution. With my old 17" CRT I never go above 1280X1024 and usually game at 1024 anyway.

DX10 can now use RAM as Video Memory, I have 766MB assigned to my 8600GT. There was speculation that this might mean that even 512mb would hardly be neccesary for huge textures.

So maybe the 320MB version would be better value for money?

Can i do the same for my 8500GT? If so, how?

It should already be done.

Right Click (on Desktop) Personalize (urg) > Display Settings > Advanced

It's not something you set, it is allocated depending on your physical RAM. Too bad they recently adjusted that to make it 766MB if your RAM is 2GB or more. I think it's a bit much to make available to the grpahics card. I hope they know what they are doing.

Oh, ok. Mine says that already as you said....

Hahah spamming over from your thread :p

But now that you reminded me of it being in the same price range (cheaper) I'd agree.
