Copy movies in itunes & apple TV ?

Hi...

I do not have an Apple TV but this technique seems to work for the itunes movie directory.

I open a AVI movie encoded in Divx or Xvid codec, i click file, then save, then choose "save as self-contained movie", choose where to save as, then it converts in couple of seconds in a *.mov file then add it to my itunes movie directory & it works. It plays via iTunes & also front row.

Would i be able to stream this movie via iTunes to the Apple TV ?

I tried it for the Ipod Video but it doesnt work coz of the resolution !

anyone ........... is it worth it to buy the apple tv & convert the movies like i said above & will it work on the apple tv ? Anyone who knows about this ....
 
afaik anything that itunes can play AppleTv should be able to play it too. Check the files size for that .mov file - if its what I'm thinking of it is just a reference file.

If you have quicktime pro you can just select export and Choose movie to Apple TV or iPod from the drop down list.
