Hello again,

Another post concerning my P5LD2 - Deluxe

I am unable to turn of my computer so that it stays unless I physically hold in the power/reset button for 4 secs

So in other words when I go "Shut Down" in Windows, windows goes through the usual processing of logging off etc but instead of the mahine turning off it restarts and reboots into window

I have had a look at the wiring from the box to the motherboard for the power. reset etc and according to the manaul all seems fine

any help and suggestions would be gr8ly appreciated once again

Thanks
Mark

Try swapping the pins on your reset button and power button. You might have the polarity mixed up. This does affect some mobo's.

Did you change any hardware/software when it started doing it?

Power buttons have polarity? OMW! I must get the multimeter out and check.

All the LED's plugged on the right pins? BIOS up to date? If it really bugs you, disable the PowerdownAfterShutdown in hklm\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Winlogon and manually kill the box when it says it's safe

Played with your HAL, APM/ACPI settings?
