Yay, but I'm waiting for these naysayers to warm up their engines and come and crap all over this thread.
It's great to see real progress made. It's gonna be a raucass WC, cannot wait.
Those pics are great, especially the cool looking lights on the side of the roads.

Jozi, maybe in future you can posts these threads in the 'sport' section. Maybe posting in news and current affairs just tempts ppl to come and crap all over it with their usual '2010 to go down so the government can lose all the money they invested in it and the ppl suffer as a result' jibes.

Doesn't Safa house just look great? I drove past there last week on my way to Soweto. The construction site looks very busy. I got goosebumps looking at all the cranes.

Most of the stadiums are currently on track, well done guys! Easy work because most of them have not reached the critical points yet where they rely on steel, concrete arriving on time etc etc. Once this point is reached, it will become clear that the deadlines are not being met, just like a successful world cup, the stadiums themselves also rely on a whole chain of things for them to reach their deadlines. Power problems during the building process also comes to mind. Eish

Yea, breaking down a current stadium, digging foundations, making holes all over the place and getting rubble in/out is fairly easy as it does not rely on many brains and other external factors.
The real test will start when things like concrete have to be delivered, steel manufactured and delivered on time etc etc..
But that's normal for any project. What do brains have to do with it though? These are multinational companies that are handling these contracts. What's your point? You don't think they can hanadle it?

I am saying that the stadiums like any other building project normally always start off on time. It makesno difference if they are multinational companies or not, thats irrelivent. where do you think the concrete and steel is coming from? How is it getting delivered to the site? Who is supplying the electricity to these building sites? multinational companies? Nope, they are relying heavily on South African services, goverment and infrustructure. Its out of their control. Problem is there is not much time for delays, in most projects like this some delays can be expected, SA does not have the time.
Brains have a lot to do with it, lets just hope somebody like the project manager for eNatis is not project manager for meeting site deadlines.
So yea, I am saying they can;t handle it.

What do brains have to do with it ? Surely you are joking ? Have you any idea of the logistical nightmare it is to run a contract of that scale in the time period they have.
I am so happy i am not involved in the construction on any of the stadiums those guys are in for a torrid few years. Rather them than me.
Hey, you're entitled to your own opinion. I won't attempt to speak for these companies, but they've committed themselves to those timeframes. I say let's wait and see.

Yea they have committed, but I can guarantee you that in the fine print somewhere it is written that they cannot be held accountable for missing deadlines because of third-party suppliers, no electricity etc etc..Like any other project of this magnitude.
I actually feel sory for those poor project managers, because it will be their fault if they fail to deliver.
