Smelters hit by loadshedding

These smelters use an incredibly huge amount of electricity. They have plans to build more in Coege (E. Cape).

The problem of poor forward planning remains.
 
Power provider Eskom has cut electricity to the Hillside and Bayside smelters in South Africa and Mozambique's Mozal smelter in line with contractual agreements.

I dont see a problem here, all the Large Power Customers of a utility sign an agreement to pay slightly more than others to maintain a continous supply and if not they are subject to load shedding as everybody else and in some cases they are the first ones to be cut off.
Its a worldwide trend. University Electrical Power Systems teaches that in Energy Management section.

Can you imagine how many foreign countries are going to stop doing business with SA b'cos of this cr_p??
 
/me is wondering what countries stepper from Soweto is actually comparing these things too.
 
It's a world wide trend to have contractual agreements in place with heavy industrial users. What sets us apart is how often we enforce those agreements.
