OK, so I recently bought the Wii LAN Adapter ($20). The official Nintendo one, and I'm still having trouble connecting to the Wii Shop Channel.
I'm kinda confused now. So any help will be appreciated!
I have open all ports I can think of listed at the following two sites:-
http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/onlineFirewall.jsp
http://www.wiili.org/index.php/Open_Wii_Ports
I have also tried not using the above settings as well, as in not adding the ports to my router and left the router with the default settings.
I have disconnected everything but the Wii to my router and disconnected every other device.
I have tried setting up the wi-fi connection again on channel 1 and channel 11.
I have even tried to change my Location to Brazil, just to see if it would work.
All the above don't seem to work.
I CAN do all of the following:-
Access the Mii channel and send a receive Mii's
Send messages to Wii friends
Vote in the Everybody Votes channel
Access the Internet Channel and browse websites, etc.
Access the Weather channel and get up dates to the weather.
Access the News Channel, and get the latest news.
I CANNOT access the Wii Shop channel to buy Virtual Console games!!
So I dunno what it could be? The connection from South Africa to the Nintendo servers? Slow internet? Although, Internet, Weather, News channels seem to update fine.
Just as a side note, I am on 512K ADSL, and my service is unshaped. So I have no problems with P2P programs, or other port problems.
As I said, sometimes it used to work before. As I have downloaded a few VC games and obviously downloaded the Internet channel.
Could Nintendo have blocked my Wii from using the Wii Shop Channel? Cause I'm in South Africa using an American Wii unit? Can they do that?
I dunno...I'm stumped with this one. Any help? Anything else I should try out?
Thanks!
