How can I put Broadband into my Building?

I live in a Block of 90 flats in Claremont Cape Town, what would be the best way to provide broadband to everyone. I have the following options:
1. There is an unused FM Coaxial socket in each flat.
2. Intercom Phones from the front desk?
3. Ethernet over Power?

I also need to know if it is legal for me to distribute adsl, with being a registered ISP? If it is legal who offers the cheapest uncapped solution?

It would certainly be legal to setup a wireless LAN for the building with a few wireless routers.

And lets say that one of the routers just coincidently had an ADSL line plugged into it then maybe everyone would have internet access as well.

Ok, not that I know what I'm talking about, but what about registering as an ISP and doing it like that?

Wireless will probably be your cheapest option...

You have to remember things like spreading the access evenly. You got say 30 people connecting at one time, the 4mbit line would run alright but not fast, and considering most uncapped solutions offer only 1mbit, then you're really scraping by on speed. Some sort of network usage distributer would be useful. I have seen several posts here on tools to help you out.

No doubt that a wireless rollout would be best. remember you need to beat what iBurst and Vodacom/MTN are charging per month on price.

Also support if the line goes down on your side? what will the tennants do if they have no access for several days. You need to think about that. Some sort of SLA or conditions of use.

One last thing, one of the several residential buildings that went up a year ago in Canal Walk (along the water and bridge) has DSL access in the flats. Maybe call ask them and find out what their solution is, if it has been working successfully for not.

even with 4096 adsl - the 384 upload part is what is going to kill the setup with 30 ppl.

very sad that we in SA don't have something fast yet for ADSL in terms of the up channel.

Using the old Fm's slow down your system very much
going the intercom route ... will mess up the system for days and then when telkom messes up ... leave your system out of it.
Going via the power... wire less is much cheaper

checking on that uncapped for you but ... http://www.uncapped.co.za/ should work as a bench mark, and as martmeister sayed 1mg line only... No SA company is going to give you the fastest line with no cap
