At least the UK Regulator gives a damn

I just press mute

Idiots shoot themselves in the foot :D

It truly is a global community, so the tricks are also passed on to us in the darkest Africa.

I could swear someone in RSA reads the UK ASA and knows they could get away with things because the regulations are weaker.

I would have gone with regulators. :o

Why do TV Adverts sound louder than the shows they interupt

I know there was a discussion regarding this a while back, so I thought I would post this. The UK ASA has investigated... lets hope SA ASA follows in their footsteps.

EDIT: Strange... I posted a new topic and now it appears as a comment.

maybe when you've fallen asleep watching the movie, the adverts in between will get you up....just kidding.:)...I dont watch TV so I would'nt know.

Cos they run the sound through a compressor and up the level to near max?

Yep - the adverts are what its all about at the TV stations. The shows you watch are so you can watch the adverts. HENCE I BOUGHT A TIVO AND LOVE PAUSING AND FFWDING THE ADS :D

I no longer watch ads at all. long live PVR!
MythTv rocks!

btw, have you noticed how MNET has started to remove blank frames between ads to try and stop people skipping ads? If you skip one frame at a time, you will notice that they blend the last and first frames.

One of the SABC news broadcasts has also started showing an ad after the news logo.

It was merged with a thread created yesterday on the same topic. ;)
