Anyone know if the sale is still on? I heard the springfield makro still had lots of stock so that shouldnt be a problem. Oh im referring to the sale with Xbox games.

I got a whole lot of Makro inserts in this morning's newspaper - and there is nothing there about the xBox. Sorry.

I really dislike Makro because some of their stuff. Like Nescafe is never cheaper than Spar or PNP or Checkers. Marko because of the very nature of their stores and business model should always be cheaper. Sometimes they are much more expensive and it makes me doubt their trustworthiness.

Pardon my stupidity but what does Nescafe have to do with an XBox unless I'm missing something;)

I tend to agree. You have to be quite selective about what you buy - and do a comparison with the other discounters. What I like is their (usual) no quibble returns policy.

Their IT buyer doesn't always get it right though - for example the flash memory sticks. They could be more competitive if they set their minds to it by having a bigger range etc.

Apart from a few tiffs regarding lack of stock I've enjoyed their specials and wide range of appliances/tech toys.

Its common business practice. Makro sells bulk - if you want to buy a lose coke, then expect to pay more.

I have heard the concept being called "a draw card". Like selling the newspaper in a cafe - it just does not pay to sell newspapers, but the people buy the newspaper, and then grab a chocolate and a coke too.

I buy lots of stuff at Makro - but never the loose stuff. Just as I wont go buy a case of coke at the BP Express Shop.

This might seem off topic by now ;) , but I went down there and the sale is still on. Unfortunately R6 Vegas was sold out, got a copy of Lego Star Wars instead.

thanks ppl, wasn't aware there was a sale. just been to makro woodmead and picked up oblivion that I've been wanting for a while, R299 cheap i think?. there were a few other games still from R199 - R299 but didnt want them, though also picked up a couple of cool ps2 titles i wanted as well

Well, needless to say , I have just dented Makro Crown Mines. Fight Night Rnd 3, Forza2 (no it was not on sale) , topspin 2, Rainb 6 Vegas, PGR.

So many more and I am battling to remember. All I can recall of the actual shopping trip was the salesman asking me "are you sure you have enough games there" .

It was deserted there lastnight. I was the only one running up and down, like on one of those game shows , where you can pile anything you want into your trolley in a set amount of time and yu can have it all.

Lol... awsome. I only got 2 before the missus revoked my buyer license.
Condemmed and Splinter Cell double agent. Also picked up Dark Messaih for 100 bucks for my boet.

Dark Messiah , no no no, need to go back , I want that one, mmm, really need it.

I wonder if they'll let me leave work , I promise I'll come back.

Problem is now, what do you play first. This is a tough decision, and one should not go into it lightly

Well, I've popped in all the Xbox 360 games, registered for my gamertag and updated the games that needed updating. Tonight, I am moving onto the pc games. Hooked up the laptop for the family, so I can stream movies to the tv in the lounge, get them out of my way so I can focus on "all my precious" games.
