I've got a few mates and family members that moved there from the UK and they claim you get used to it so maybe it's not that bad. It wouldn't be my first choice of a place to move to though.

Salaries are not that competitive in Australia..especially if you take into account the cost of living there.

Very true, the cost of living is not good, a couple of friends of mine packed up to go there, and coming from each working 1 job (vets assistant and middle managment) here, they are both having to do part time 2nd jobs there, just to survive.
The cost of moving back is way to high for them to even consider at the present or into the near future.

Very interesting article, and some good linked articles, which are relevant to me, since my wife and I are seriously considering immigrating to OZ. We have a meeting next week with an agency that assists with emigrations.

It means that if they wanted to emigrate Australia has job opportunities and a good economy. Also maybe we here could learn a thing or two from the successes of other countries like Australia.

Year I know, is costly. Just the agency costs about R19,000. Then you still have to pay some other costs like medicals, application lodgment fees, etc, which adds up to about another R20,000
If we are serious, and decide to go ahead, we will probably have to take out a second bond. We are trying to find some info of the steps if we do it ourselves, because I don't feel like wasting R40,000 if our application is denied.
