Upgraded to Vista, HDD turning off ?!

Hi there guys,

Another lekker one! Damn it I hate this!!!

Hope someone can help me !?

Recently I upgraded from XP to Vista Ultimate.
I had a healthy system running raid stripped on 2x 200 GB HDD's.
I formatted the old XP partition and installed Vista...

Now when I turn on my pc it seems to load normally but after reaching the desktop and seeing the taskbar (no Icons) i get the little swirly circle.....
and then I start talking to it because thats all I get!! After about, ow lets say 5 minutes...I CAN HEAR THE HDD TURNING OFF!!!!!
The system hangs and the HDD doesn't come back on. A restart sometimes makes it turn off even faster...no waiting at least!

I have a suspicion that the RAID configuration is wrong, and I know a complete format of both disks WILL fix this, but how am I suppose to backup my data if everything is on a the two raided disks? It's not like I can split the RAID now...HAHAHAHAHA.....can I ?

Hope someone has seen or heard of this before...I sure haven't!

Please help guys...I love my data, but I hate backups, so I have none...

Onboard RAID? What mobo? Latest drivers FOR vista?

Disable the hdd power saving (somewhere in control panel. use the search bar in the upper right)

Check your drivers, update if newer ones have been released.

Did you install your RAID drivers during the Vista install?

It has a MUCH nicer process for this, as you don't have to open your PC to put in a stiffy drive anymore, thank god.

I don't actually use a floppy drive, but I have one in my computer in any case...

put those two SATA's in RAID 0 configuration its works perfect and the performance is much better mines giving me no problems

Raid 0 and the drives take turns to go to sleep. Corruption just begging to happen...
