I have been given a trial Mweb WiMax accout, where to from here?

Firstly I would like to apologize if I have posted this in the incorrect forum.

I received a call from MWeb yesterday and they gave me a username and password for their new Mweb WiMax trial. Where can I read up about this WiMax technology as I honestly don't know much about it.

Also for those who also got the free trial where is the best place for them to install the relevant equipment needed for WiMax? Can anyone explain further what it is they are going to install?? What download speeds should I expect?

Thats funny, my equipment was installed today, but still dont have a username and password - They installed mine on my roof with another adaptor next to my pc (made by Alvario), they where very quick and knew exactly what they where doing. Can send you some pics of it all if you like.
Anyway, so I phoned them today and said that they would have to create a new account for me and would only be ready on Monday.... Noooooooo !!!! All this new equipment and cant do anything with it !!!
 
Yeah, WiMax been out now for awhile...but still in trial phase.

We initially rolled it out too internal employees, then out too dialup customers in Pretoria. There will be +- 150 trial users across ISP's. Alvarion and Siemens are providing the hardware. A Antenna sits on your roof, goes into an internal unit and into a network device so too speak. Has a signal ethernet port and power adaptor.

Speeds will 512KB with a 2gb Cap.

So far it's been 'ok' the trial and it rolls out commercially come July 1st. The pricing hasn't been finalised.
 
well for 512kb line and 2 gig cap, I pray its going to to be competitive, like R300 incl. per month. (excluding installation costs)
Its the only way Wimax will go big.
 
Usually trials are done with more optimistic throughputs. If the speed that they trial with doesn't work out too well, they start reducing it to find the most reliable speed for all users. Therefore 512k is kind of a disappointment.

I'm guessing it went out to dialup customers because they would not notice sloooow speeds. :D
Maybe you should have included some Virgin Mobile suckers suffering on their version of GPRS :D
