Some kids come screaming down a road at 80MPH. The speed limit is 50MPH. Nanny state's solution is to reduce the speed limit to 30MPH.

Legislation solves nothing. Limits solve nothing. Extremely heavy gridlock will only cause more environmental damage, and that's what this will result in.

Slow driving is already a major contributor to traffic problems. You see it everyday. The person at the front takes several seconds to even get their vehicle moving after a light changes, then accelerates slower than a bicycle. Each person in turn waits until there are a few car lengths between them and the car in front of them before they even think about starting to move.

So-called road safety experts also like to ignore the fact that the lower the speed the less attention you pay to the road.

Considering the usual state of things 20mph would be an improvement. :)

You dont want to drive then take advantage of the awesome public transport available. ;)
