Can you save youtube video for viewing at a later time?

I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to videos. Can I save these videos?
 
AFAIK, yes you can, but you will need an app to download it and flv player. Unfortunately I can't remember the exact name of the app right now, but there should be lots of them available.

Youtubegetter is one of them IIRC... Not sure if that was the name...

if you have firefox there are a multitude of extensions that allow you to do just that.
 
I just look around in my temp internet folder...find everything there...just dunno if its worth the trouble

Same as me, highlight files by size to find the video, copy to temp directory, rename the file extension to MPG, and play it in Windows Media Player classic, takes less than a minute.

Yea, but I dont have a perminent internet connection. I download a bunch of videos at the University's connection. Then watch them at home lateron.
 
In Opera or FF just look in the cache directory after it has finished loading, I prefer that method because you don't waste bandwidth downloading half the vid to see if you like it and then downloading the actual vid through your download manager.

It is probably easier to use keepvid or one of the FF exstentions or Opera widgets for this..

You don't even need a FLV player, those are just crappy and irritating. You change the exstention to .mpg or .avi and play it through WMP (in Vista at least) or MPC etc as long as you have a good codec pack, eg www.free-codecs.com most of the packs on there, I use the K-Lite kodec pack, it makes WMP able to play almost anything, which is nice seeing as I use it now :eek:
 
Try Orbit Downloader, download manager that can download .flv

Well no, it doesn't because when you get the file it often has no exstention, changing the name is just so that it opens automatically with your current video player.

I'm not sure if you need a codec pack but I install one with Windows anyway, because you want to be able to play most movies, so it's not usually something extra.

Thanks guys ... I found that searching thru the cache directory works verys well. I am gonna go with that.
