Thugs for hire?
How great would it be if 1 of COSATU's leaders had a heart attack and there are no ambulances available to attend to him?
Johannesburg - Taxi drivers and owners in the Free State and Northern Cape were called upon to support the ongoing public service strike, Cosatu said on Sunday.
Provincial spokesperson Sam Mashini said taxi operators were asked to join the strike because public sector workers effectively generated their income by using taxis to get to and from work.
"We will encourage a peaceful strike, and hope that they will join us in this struggle - it will help create a stronger voice."
He said the various taxi associations would meet with Cosatu on Monday to discuss their possible involvement in the strike.
