Why the public strike is a BAD thing

I say give the people their money!!!

inflation rate is 5.5% or somethin' , normal increase rate is 6.5% +- (i'm not 100% accurate on it) But that gives u a actual raise of 1% lol.

So your not really going up at all, once the normal taxes and other stuff kicks in your actually becoming poorer and poorer.

The people that went on strike, and the people affected are people in Nursing , Security gaurds and also Police. (these people work hard hours, and are usually on call for the rest of the time that they aren't working)

I say give them the money!! c'mon chaps

Which wouldn't be happening if they were paid properly.

Sorry, but I don't buy that - there is more to it than paying properly... the economy and everything else affects standards of living.

Having said that, yes, I believe the Govt. is and has been doing workers in for some time but I don't think hijacking the ambulance dept is helpful to anyone.

Where do you draw the line with lawlessness - what if you feel a military coup was necessary to get the point across?

Once again SA show their affinity for consumption and lack of productivity. There is more the Gvt should be doing - GDP needs to go up for starters and we need to be more productive. We need to generate more jobs.

My daugters creche is now having to close because of threats from strikers. This whole strike is getting crazy. I was in total support of the strikers until they started threatening other people.

I hear that also one of the demands that they are making is for remuneration not to be performance based. Now how many employers do you know would accept that?

The argument the SAG made was that you can't pay public servants more than 20% of GDP...
That says to me that our GDP is the issue here...

Look around on this forum for how that 20% was arrived at.
Will be a real eye opener. And you may just cry....

Private schools are also being forced to close here. Its pathetic, the government needs to protect these places, make it very clear to the strikers that if they harass or intimidate anyone else they'll have to deal with the riot police...
