Orania community lauded

rainbow nation, all working together hand in hand to solve COMMON problems.

this is a good thing.
well done Orania. Whatever your objectives are, the fact that you have become self-sufficient shows that certain key skills are in place.

That is good news. Perhaps the seed of a New New SA, one where people solve their problems instead of blaming it on the past/weather/race/religion etc.

Viva.

They probably think of the Afrikaans speaking coloured community of Eesterus as Afrikaners, so it's okay to work with them - wonder if the community of Stanza Bopape in Mamelodi would get the same reception

And wow, they actually gave to another community, unlike your government, who basically only believes in themselves and hoarding for themselves

This is bad press for the ANC, they wont stand for a community like the one in Orania being seen to be helping or working together with others not of their race or creed, that goes against their (ANC) political brief.

Waits for the smear campaign.

Nooit, the Government has given nothing - ask that of the millions who now have water, electricity, schools, clinics for the first time in their lives

he did say "another".

Not that I am condoning or agreeing with his comment - just a point.

this is the funniest so far today.

All the moaning and groaning in the news section about how positive news gets shot down and the whiteys should shut up and now there actually is some positive news posted and the "other" camp decides to shoot it down.

tell me xterminator, dont you see any positives here? orania is as staunch as they come (apparently from what this forum belives) yet the okes said "cool" when a coloured (which by the gov. definition is also black) community came to look at how things are done, to improve themselves. to me this is a major milestone, proving we CAN work together, if we both put down the baseball bats and agree there are problems. where is the downside????????

Lombard said the visiting delegation was made up of Eersetrus community leaders as well as representatives from the Tshwane municipality and the University of Pretoria.

Not that I care much about this story but I thought I would just point that out ;)

What I find quite saddening in this is that a community as blatantly racist has done something nice for a coloured community and a large majority of you lot have now resorted to making snide remarks about the government instead. it is quite sad really :(

Oh and the current government game me wheelie bins :D the best invention since sliced bread

You will notice Gavin, that this news item was initially posted in a very positive light.
It took only one person to derail it with a snide remark to the very community that is reaching out, and I am of the opinion that the ANC as a whole will share that persons view.
Do you disagree?

Damn, I didn't want to get involved, but oh well. Sorry my friend, the government gave squat ... the taxpayers (you and me) are the giving ones

I agree it was one person who left a snide remark but then everyone jumped on the defensive bandwagon instead of just ignoring him....

It is also difficult to tell that it was posted in a positive light except for the smiley as you didn't give an opinion.

Anyway I am glad to see no one is arguing against the wheelie bins... I wonder if they have them in Orania :p

Theres a thumbs up sign too ;)
but anyway, good on the boertjies and the people of the other community for looking past the color of a persons skin, a novelty in South Africa these days.
